As the Safety Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining the daily activities of the Safety Department, serving as a liaison to the field, and specializing in Driver qualification files. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage Driver hiring and qualifications in assigned regions (review driver applications and motor vehicle records, conduct background checks, and ensure all Drivers meet DOT requirements).
  • Audit and complete Annual Reviews and Periodic Qualification Reviews.
  • Maintain driver qualification files in accordance with applicable DOT regulations.
  • Audit Safety incident reports for accuracy and consistency.
  • Assist with managing the Dock to Driver/ELDT Program.
  • Aid with managing DOT compliance among drivers returning from medical leave.
  • Assist with incident investigations and corrective action.
  • Create emergency evacuation plan maps.
  • Assist in sending supplies to service centers.
  • Review self-certification compliance among recently hired drivers.
  • Compile and analyze date using Microsoft Excel.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Assist on various projects within the Safety Department.
  • Other Safety-related tasks/activities.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations as they apply to driver qualifications and drug and alcohol testing preferred
  • Self-starter, ability to prioritize and organize projects and assignments with limited supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, establish priorities, and accomplish goals and objectives within given timelines
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret regulations and other regulatory documents
  • Strong teamwork, initiative, customer service, critical thinking, and listening skills
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good written communication skills with the ability to create internal memos and training documents as necessary
  • Experience maintaining confidential information and exercising a high level of discretion
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • High-level proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Maintain composure in stressful situations
  • Sense of urgency with all levels of management/employees
